The AI Horde: A Crowdsourced Cluster for AI Image and Text Generation

Stable Horde provides easy access to a distributed network of Stable Diffusion image generation servers. Their client interface lowers barriers to leveraging AI.

The AI Horde is an innovative crowdsourced distributed computing cluster that allows users to leverage volunteer computing resources for AI image and text generation. At its core, the AI Horde is composed of two main types of distributed workers:

Image Generation Workers:

These workers use stable diffusion models to fulfill image generation requests submitted by users. In total, the AI Horde has generated over 1512 terapixelsteps across 100.8 million fulfilled image requests.

Text Generation Workers:

These workers use natural language models to fulfill text generation requests. So far, the AI Horde has produced 12.3 gigatokens of text across 68.3 million fulfilled requests.

The AI Horde has seen impressive growth recently. With batching enabled for image requests, the system can now fulfill requests much faster when multiple images are requested at once. There are also new Horde Worker reGens that support the latest AI capabilities like SDXL models.

Interacting with the AI Horde

To use the AI Horde, users first need to register for an API key. Anonymous usage is possible but gives lowest priority. For higher priority, users can earn “Kudos” by contributing computing resources or funds back to the Horde.

The AI Horde offers various integrations for image and text generation, including web UIs, mobile apps, Discord bots, browser plugins and more. There are also CLI tools and SDKs available to build custom integrations.
